Broad Diplomatic Engagements
Apart from Meloni, PM Modi engaged with several world leaders, including UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Israel President Isaac Herzog, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The ‘#Melodi’ Phenomenon
The hashtag ‘#Melodi’ gained popularity on social media after the camaraderie between PM Modi and Meloni first caught attention during the G20 Summit in September. Memes and clips of their interactions went viral, often set to Bollywood tunes.
Meloni had previously wished PM Modi on his 73rd birthday, calling him a ‘friend’ committed to building the future and proud of India’s history.
Meloni’s Praise for Modi
In March, during Meloni’s maiden visit to India, she praised PM Modi as the most loved leader globally. PM Modi, in turn, congratulated her for becoming the first woman and youngest Prime Minister of Italy.
