What is Deepfake?
Deepfake refers to manipulated videos or photos where a person’s face or body is digitally altered to appear as someone else, often used maliciously or to spread false information. This misuse of technology poses a significant challenge to civil society as it includes fabricated images, videos, and audio that can be exploited to create pornography and misinformation.
This incident follows a trend where celebrities like Kajol Devgan and Rashmika Mandanna have fallen victim to deepfake controversies. Kajol’s manipulated video, initially shared on TikTok, showcased her face superimposed onto an unrelated clip of an English influencer changing clothes. Similarly, a recent deepfake video involving Rashmika Mandanna also garnered attention, highlighting the concerning misuse of technology in the realm of celebrity content.
